Aira Abhishek

TERI organised a National Photography Competition on the theme, ’SMART CHOICES FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE’, as part of their Youth Climate Conclave (YCC) 4th Edition to students of 10 to 25 years. They received more than 700 photographs from across the country, reflecting an increasing interest in ecological concerns and sustainability among young people in India.

Aira Abhishek (Grade 5) and Nimisha Gururaj (Grade 6) found their submissions being shortlisted to the TOP TWELVE entries. The selected photos were then thrown open for vote. Nimisha, who even attended the Conclave at New Delhi, won SECOND PLACE for her photograph! Wonderful feat! Heartiest congratulations, Nimisha!

Virat Awasthi

Virat Awasthi (Grade 2) has been making waves at several competitions! At the Unified Council English Olympiad, he was ranked 47 at the National Level. Virat also won International Rank 1 at the IMO, International Rank 4 at the IEO and International Rank 6 at the ISO organised by the Science Olympiad Foundation!

Rishikha Sandeep (Grade 2) was one among the prestigious Top 100 at the All-India Interschool Handwriting Contest! Another feather to her cap was when Rishikha's artwork was sent to space as part of Boeing and Space Foundation's Art in the Stars Competition! This piece of art was sent in a CST-100 spacecraft. Amazing luck!

Avyukt R (Grade 2) won Second Place at the KATA – Karate Competition. He also won Third Place in KUMITE at the SKI AND NSKFI National Cup 2022. Way to go, Avyukt!

Pravit Jain (Grade 4) won a Silver in the 1000 m skating in-line race at the Open State Championship held at City Skaters Arena, Bengaluru, on 21 August 2022. He won the First Place in the Four Laps category and a Silver Medal at the Karnataka State Roller Skating Competition. He trains every day and wants to reach the Nationals soon! Our grade 5 adventure seeker, Ananth M, was the youngest participant among a group of 25 members, who completed a trek to Hampta Pass. Ananth scaled a peak of 14100 metres with great enthusiasm and absolutely no help! Amazing exploit, Ananth!

Science Olympiad

At last year’s Science Olympiad, our Primary School students made us proud! Pradyot S Bharadwaj (Grade 5) earned Zonal Rank 21 and Ananya Vinod (Grade 5) earned School Rank 3 at the IEO; Rishikha Sandeep (Grade 2) Received School Rank 1 At the NSO; Virat Awasthi (Grade 2) and Antara A Mishra (Grade 5) both earned School Rank 1 at the IMO. TISB's Trojans Cup

Prateek Kannan (Grade 6) and Rihan N Mastakar (Grade 5) won the Runners-up Trophy at TISB's Trojans Cup for Grade 6 and below Table Tennis Tournament held at TISB on 14 February 2023. Rihan N Mastakar also won a Gold Medal at a table tennis tournament (BU-11) organised at the Vidyaranyapura Sports Habba, 2022.

Winners - Red Bricks Hack 2022 I Hackathon @ Ashoka University!

This January 2023, our grade 11 students designed a Smart Gesture Glove using an Arduino nano chip and Arduino software to convert hand gesture inputs into the computer. 5 flex sensors placed on each finger changes its resistance based on how the finger bends. The Smart Glove aims to control several things, such as instructions to Smart Boards, conversion of sign language into text and support to differently abled people.

The prototype won NAFL's Vamika Bhat, Siddhanth Anil and Ayush KC Second Place and Rs. 50,000 at the tough all-India three-day Red Bricks Coding Challenge at Ashoka University, New Delhi! Hearty congratulations!

Model United Nations (MUN)

Model United Nations events are red-letter days for NAFLERS. TISB organised their MUN on 10 and 11 December 2022. Thirty-one NAFLERS took part in the event, crossing words on diplomacy, international politics, and relations.

MANAK Inspire Award

Drisana Patranabish, Grade 8, (left) and Suloch Vijayraj Grade 7 (right) were selected for the MANAK Inspire Award of ₹10000/- each! They will participate in the District Level Exhibition and Project Competition (DLEPCs) to be organised by the District Education Authority. Drisana worked on a solar-powered scare crow cum pest light to aid farmers. Suloch's novel idea of using a radio system to slow down cars at road intersections won him a prize!

International Math, Science & English Olympiads

Dhoon B Shah, Grade 7, qualified for Level 2 in the English Olympiad.

Ved Siddhant Choudary, Grade 8, secured the first place in the Science Olympiad at the school level and won a Gold Medal in English Olympiad. He has qualified for the Level 2 exams.

Aditya Iyer, Grade 7, secured the First Place in the Math and Science Olympiads at the school level and has qualified for the Level 2 exams of the International Finance Olympiad and Global Olympiad on Aptitude.

Drisana Patranabish, Grade 8, secured the fifth rank in the Regional Round of IFO 2022-23. She has secured an A grade and has qualified for the Regional Round.

World GK Olympiad

Rohan Neer Gupta, Grade 8, has qualified for the Regional Round and has secured grade A+.

International Mathematics Championship

Camp Yellow in association with members of the European Mathematical Society, conducted an International Mathematics Championship online from November 2022 to January 2023 for grades 1 to 12. Akshara A Yelundur, Grade 7, has secured the 55th Global Rank and a Silver Medal. Wonderful work, Akshara!

Science WISE 2022-2023

VITM organised Science WISE 2022-2023, a Bengaluru District Level Annual Science Quiz, that broke away from traditional learning methods. The quiz was conducted in 4 levels – Preliminary, Quarterfinal, Semi-final, and Final rounds. Aditya Rajiv Ratnam, Grade 8, bagged the Second Place in the semi-finals.

The Trojans' Cup

The Trojans' Cup, Grade 6 & Below Category, Table Tennis Tournament was held at TISB on 14 February 2023. Prateek Kannan, Grade 6, bagged the Runners-up Trophy! Prateek also won First Place at the SaPa in Schools, Talent Hunt 2022-23 Online Inter-School Music Competition! Great work!

Yachting Association of India’s Level 1 Sailing Course

Madhavi Arjun, Grade 6, set sail on her yacht, steering her way through the backwaters of KRS in Mysore as part of the Yachting Association of India’s Level 1 Sailing Course. Her sailing prowess won her the Best Candidate Trophy!

Junior National Equestrian Championship

Vivaan Tholasi, Grade 8, won a Gold Medal in the 80/100 cms category at the Junior National Equestrian Championship in Baroda on December 15 & 16, 2022. The event saw over 40 riders from 10 riding schools participating in the championship. Great work, Vivaan!

Karnataka State Archery Championship

At the Karnataka State Archery Championship, Bhuvas Sharma, Grade 6, made us proud by bagging the Silver and Bronze Medals in the 20 mts and 30 mts categories! He also won a Bronze Medal in the 30 metre Archery Competition at the State Level Karnataka Mini-Olympics, in Term 1. Way to go, Bhuvas!

Creative Writing event

Jiya Shetty, Grade 8, won the First Place in the Sub-Junior Category of the Creative Writing event organised by CISCE. She represented NAFL in the National Finals at Lucknow in September 2022. She also took part in the ‘Father George Hess Memorial National Literary Events’ conducted by ASSIC and hosted by City Montessori School, Lucknow.

In the summer of 2022, Scholastic Writers Academy published Jiya’s story, ‘Ascent to the Stars’, in their book, ‘A Spectrum Of Creative Hues’. Well done, Jiya!

2022, I am Texas Book

Arjun Doss, Grade 8, had his poem chosen as one of the 1,000 poems published in ‘2022, I am Texas Book’. This was an attempt to publish the largest book in the world with work by children, earning a Guinness World Records™ title!

State Championship (under 13 age group)

Gauri Ural, Grade 7, won Third Place in the State Championship (under 13 age group) that took place in April, representing the Appaiah Basketball Club.

Mini Champs Tournament

Kavin Vohra, Grade 6 won a Gold Medal in the Mini Champs Tournament organised by CSE-PBI, Summer Camp at Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence.

Olympiad exams - Science Stream

Aarav Arjun, Grade 7, was awarded a Gold Medal and scholarship of 5000/- in the Science Stream of the Olympiad exams conducted by Cambridge University Press. Way to go!

NAFL North Junior MUN 2022

The Model United Nations event hosted by NAFL North for Middle School on 17 and 18 August 2022 was once again a huge hit with our students! Students of Grades 5-8 participated in 6 Committees - IPC, UNSC, UNEP, SOCHUM, DISEC & MARVEL. Seventy-five students from NAFL enthusiastically participated and bagged many prizes!
